Aim, Motto and Pledge

11 January 2016

The Pathfinder Aim states ‘The Advent Message to all the world in my generation’. The Motto states ‘For the love of God constrains me’ and the Pledge states ‘By the grace of God, I will be pure kind and true, I will keep the Pathfinder Law, I will be a servant of God and a friend to man’.
The Aim is what you as a Pathfinder should strive towards. It is what every child of God needs to focus on. Whatever you do and say, you need to be driven by this Aim. Your actions should speak louder than words and should reflect your mission of ensuring that the message of the 2nd coming of Christ is known by everyone you come across.
The motto is a reminder of why you aught to be a loyal and faithful servant of God. God loved you so much that even though you sinned against him, He saw it befitting to send His One and Only sinless Son to come and die so you can have a second chance to eternal life. Because of such love, you are constrained to do good to others and even though you feel that people are ungrateful of your goodness and kindness, the love of God is the Only reason you need to continue. His love has and will never fail you.

The interesting thing about the Pledge is in its introduction- ‘By the grace of God’…. In other words, your kindness and purity and even keeping the Law is not a result of your own doing, it is through the grace of God. Our good works are like ‘filthy rags’ (Isa. 64:6) in the sight of God and it is through the imputed righteousness of Christ that we too can live righteous lives. So never boast about your good deeds, all exaltation should be directed to God.
