Serving Others- Pathfinder Friend

22 January 2016

To achieve the requirements of this section of the Friend curriculum, I recommend the Director/teacher to first discuss with the class on what it means to be a ‘good citizen’. You can invite a reputable member of society for this section or you can place it for discussion among the Friend class members and then make a constructive conclusion

The next part of the curriculum requires physical involvement in the community. Considering that the Friend class is still a young group and may have never done community outreach before, I suggest arranging an activity which they all can do together.

Do your research of youth clubs around or a children’s home or orphanage or an organization that deals with disabled children and arrange for all the Friend class members to go to such a place as a group. Furthermore, you need to have a set program of what the Friends will do when they arrive at such a place.

Be fully prepared and assign roles such as prayer and verse recital and every part of what will happen needs to be known by the Friend class and everyone must be comfortable with their role. For even better contribution, encourage them to contribute their ideas during the planning stage but don’t expect much from them at this point as this may be very new to them.

Take pictures, keep memories and have fun!
