• The Bible and Pathfinder Administrative manual are the two important resources you need to make use of in meetings, gatherings, planning, preparation and for your own personal enrichment. So immediately you are appointed as Pathfinder Director, make sure you have both 
• As one who is in Pathfinder leadership, I advise to bookmark this site Click Here . Alternatively, use this site Click Here These sites will do wonders for you where insight and knowledge is concerned. Every effective Director makes use of such sites in some way or another. 
• I strongly recommend keeping an emergency budget when in Pathfinder leadership. There will be Many cases where you will need to make use of funds from your own pocket.
• Fourth on my list is compiling a detailed plan of action for the entire term of your leadership upfront. In Pathfinder, most things will not go according to plan and as such, your detailed plan should have a plan B (possibly even C). Your plan should comprise of most activities on the 1st Semester because waiting till the 2nd Semester may compromise your plan due to so many church and Conference activities and outings and trips and festivals. My best recommendation is to have pursued Pre-Investiture within the 1st Semester and then you only have touch-ups and Honors and Investiture on the 2nd Semester.
• Influence the commitment of at least 1 adult or youth to assist you. This person may be part or aside of the chosen Committee (preferably Pathfinder Alumni). The year is long and appointed committee members tend to disappear during the course of the year and such a person, I've experienced to be the actual person who stays with you for the whole year. Don't worry if can't find such a person initially, somehow God seems to reveal such a person when the time is right..
